Professor Geoffrey Rapp, an editor of the Sports Law Blog, has been quoted several times by the National Post (Canada) in its continuing coverage of the fate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League: June 8 | May 15 | May 13 | May 12

Associate Professor Geoffrey Rapp interviewed by the BBC Radio program "World Have Your Say", for their March 24 episode: "Is India showing weakness in face of terrorism?". 

Professor Joseph E. Slater appeared on WSPD on the subject of the AFSCME/City of Toledo labor dispute.

College of Law Holds 2009 Commencement Ceremony on May 9

The University of Toledo College of Law welcomed 160 graduates into the legal profession at the 2009 Commencement ceremony on May 9 at the Student Union Auditorium.

Professor James M. Klein, who retired at the end of the school year after 38 years on the law faculty, gave the faculty welcome. James Thomas '87, a College of Law alumnus, addressed the graduates as Commencement Speaker. Mr. Thomas is a former U.S. Magistrate Judge who now chairs the Litigation Practice Group of over 200 trial lawyers for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, an international law firm.

Valedictorian Jacob Cohen also spoke, as did Immediate Past SBA President Ryan Engle. The Dean's Outstanding Student Award was given to Joshua Boggioni, the outgoing Editor in Chief of the Law Review. Michael Wehrkamp was honored with the ALI-ABA Scholarship and Leadership Award. Professor Beth Eisler received the Outstanding Professor Award from the graduating class.

The degrees were conferred by Daniel Brennan, Trustee Emeritus and father of graduate Joseph Brennan. In another family moment, Professor Robin Kennedy had the honor of hooding his daughter, graduate Erin Kennedy.

The processional and recessional were performed by the Toledo Symphony Brass Quintet.
