Judicial Clerkship Application Information (ATTN. Rising 3L’s):  

 

If you are interested in pursuing a post-graduate judicial clerkship, please read on. 

  • For federal clerkships, you need to apply in September of your last year of law school. 
  • For state clerkships, you may need to apply as early as September of your second year of law school.  Visit http://www.utlaw.edu/students/career/clerkships/states.htm for more information on state clerkships.

 

May 30th DEADLINES for Federal Clerkship Applications:

§         If you are a 3L and plan to apply for a post-graduate judicial clerkship during Fall 2008 (to begin in August/September 2009), please send an e-mail to lcs@utoledo.edu and indicate “judicial clerkship” in the subject line.

§         This must be done NO LATER THAN May 30th.

§         You must also line up references (recommenders) by May 30th. This means, talk with professors and past supervisors about their willingness to offer a good recommendation for you. You can fill them in on details later but you must know who your recommenders will be prior to June 1st.

 

There will be a number of changes to the Federal Clerkship Application Process this year. The Federal Law Clerk Information System and the OSCAR system will be merged providing for a one-stop shop to locate available Federal Clerkships, view application preferences and upload documents.

Stormwater Internship

Description:

Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) Stormwater Internship Announcement:  TMACOG has an internship available to assist the TMACOG Stormwater Coalition. We are looking for a student who can make a one-year commitment with an average of 20 hours/week, graduate level preferred. Previous experience with stormwater issues and land use law or planning is a significant plus, but not required. The TMACOG Stormwater Coalition is a committee of local political jurisdictions that are subject to EPA stormwater permits. Staff assists coalition members in understanding and fulfilling those permit requirements. Duties of the internship include: 1. Intern will research and review materials and websites to become proficient in stormwater issues. 2. Coordinate the Stormwater Coalition and its technical advisory committee. a. Prepare agendas under committee guidance b. Make sure all committee members receive notices in a timely fashion c. Work with department secretary to maintain committee roster, appointments from all members, mailing and email distribution lists. 3. Assist Lucas County with CRS committee [floodplain re-evaluation with FEMA through Lucas County; we are assisting]: http://www.co.lucas.oh.us/Engineer/FloodNews.asp 4. Maintain, update, and add to the Stormwater Coalition website content. Other staff will do web design and layout. 5. Develop and conduct an educational program as agreed to by Stormwater Coalition 6. Under committee guidance, develop stormwater educational materials. Intern will do research and draft writing for materials; work with staff writer and graphics person to prepare the final version. 7. Prepare and give presentations on stormwater issues to public officials 8. Work with the technical committee to maintain and upgrade the Stormwater Standards Manual [http://www.tmacog.org/Environment/TMACOG_Stormwater_Standards_Manual.pdf] as agreed to by Stormwater Coalition and its technical committee a. We anticipate that as the internship begins, the manual will have just completed a major update and will be starting its review process through TMACOG committees. b. Under technical committee guidance, make changes to the manual needed to address any issues raised in the committee review process c. Draft, update, or add model ordinances as discussed and agreed to by committee

9. This is a paid internship: $9 - $11/hour depending on qualifications.
