Fall Recruitment Update:

The fall 2008 on campus interview, resume collect, and direct mail schedules are now posted at: http://www.utlaw.edu/students/career/oncampus.htm.  Application materials for the on-campus interview and resume collect program must be received in our office by Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.

 

Please Note:  Fall on campus interviews will begin on August 18th, 2008, the week prior to the start of classes. 

 

To be eligible to participate in fall recruitment, you need to have your resume and cover letter reviewed by a member of the career services office, and participate in a mock interview prior to any on-campus interview.  Contact Jessica at jessica.mehl@utoledo.edu to schedule a resume review and/or a mock interview. 

Also, please watch next week’s newsletter for information on the Alumni Mock Interview Program and WLSA Fall Recruitment Fashion Show to be held at the law school on Thursday, August 14th 2008.

University of Michigan On Campus Interview Employer List:

If you are interested in interviewing with larger firms this fall and have the GPA to be competitive in this process (typically 3.5 GPA or better), please e-mail Law Career Services and we will send you a handout explaining how to use the Michigan list and an excel file containing The "U of M On-Campus Interview List" for Fall 2008.  Please send your e-mail request to "jessica.mehl@utoledo.edu".

Pro Bono Opportunities:

Ohio Fourth District Court of Appeals:

 

The Ohio Fourth District Court of Appeals is interested in finding a student or students to help update a pro se litigant handbook that provides a detailed overview of appellate procedure and several examples of forms used in prosecuting an appeal.

Ohio Tort Law Journal:

 

Additional volunteer Research Assistants/Writers (RA/W) are needed for a book project on tort law.  The project commenced a few weeks ago, but several students were forced to drop out due to outside considerations.  Replacements are currently being sought.  Students who are interested in tort law, willing to work hard and eager to set themselves apart from their peers (and their competitors in the job market) are encouraged to apply.  The project will run the duration of the summer.  The positions can be either full-time or part-time, depending on your time commitments.  This is a cyber-commuting position, so you can work from home.

 

The RA/W will be responsible for researching specific areas of Ohio tort law, based upon the outline created by the Author, exploring the breadth and depth of the topic area.  Each participant will gain knowledge and experience by thoroughly dissecting topics areas while guided and directed by the Author in a friendly (ie: Non-Socratic) mentorship.  This is an excellent opportunity develop your knowledge, skills and expertise.  Each RA/W will work closely with the Author to turn the research product into a rough draft of the book.  The project will culminate in a new edition of the only professionally published treatise on Ohio tort law in existence.
