This event promises to be a great way to network, meet friends, and enjoy an evening with the Toledo Law community. All proceeds from the event will be used to provide fellowships to law students who would like to dedicate their summers to working in a public interest position.
Stacy Adkins, Fellowship Recipient (2007)
The PILA fellowship funding allowed me to continue my work with CASA and represent two infants in abuse/neglect cases. I was also able to spend a significant amount of time in Juvenile Court where I gained valuable experience and networking opportunities .
Jennifer Sandusky, Fellowship Recipient (2007)
I used my PILA Fellowship to help fund my internship with the Clark County Public Defender's Office in Las Vegas , Nevada. My favorite experience was meeting other interns from across the country who shared my interests in Criminal and Public Interest Law. Spending the summer in Las Vegas also provided an invaluable opportunity to network with the legal community and familiarize myself with the local statutes.
Thomas Driscoll (far left), Fellowship Recipient (2007)
My work at Midwest Environmental Advocates included assisting in preparation for direct impact litigation and advocating policy change through public outreach and preparing testimony for the Wisconsin state legislature. I value my experience with MEA most for the understanding I have gained of the essential role of pro bono legal organizations play in the pursuit of sustainability and environmental justice.
Last year this event was a great success, but we need your help to fund even more law students who would like to dedicate their summers and possibly their careers to the public interest. An invitation to alumni and area firms with further details will be sent in early December. All are invited to attend.
To RSVP: If you would like to RSVP for this event, or are interested in donating an item for the Silent Auction, please contact Jessica Mehl, Public Service Coordinator, at 419.530.4996.
Thank you for your support of public interest at The University of Toledo College of Law.
